Introduction

Lateral Entry Scheme is intended to admit meritorious Diploma holders to the Second Year/Third Semester of the B.Tech courses to acquire a Degree in Engineering. Lateral Entry Scheme is approved by Government of Kerala as per G.O (MS) No.156/2002/H.Edn dated 13.11.2002 for 10% of the sanctioned seats in addition to total seats. In order to maintain uniformity among various schemes of Diploma holders, AICTE has suggested a state level Entrance Examination for the selection. The admission will be subject to regulations of the universities concerned.

Eligibility

• Candidates who have passed Diploma in Engineering awarded by the State Board of Technical Education or Equivalent and must have a minimum of 50% marks.
  
• Relaxation of 5% marks will be allowed to SEBC candidates whose annual family income does not exceed Rs.4.5lakh.
  
• For candidates belonging to SC/ST community, a pass in the qualifying examination will be sufficient.
  
• Maximum age as on the last date of submission of application will be 30 years.
• Rank in Entrance Exam for Lateral Entry Test (LET)

Application form and Prospectus

        Formal Application forms for admission can be obtained from  the college office  in  person on payment of  Rs. 300/- or by  post on   payment of   Rs. 330/- by Demand Draft. Application forms can also be downloaded from the website of the college. Such applications have to be submitted along with DD of  Rs. 300/- infavour of  The Principal, MEA Engineering College payable at Perinthalmanna.

        The duly filled in application along with attested copies of necessary documents can be submitted directly or by registered post with A/D to the college so as to reach the college office on or before the prescribed date. Applicant shall obtain acknowledgement from the college for applications submitted directly.

        Applications submitted to the college should be completed in all respects. The candidate should fill in all the items in the  Application form in his/her own handwriting.

        Copies of Certificates / Documents to be submitted along with the application.

                    1.       Diploma Certificate.
                    2.       Mark lists of qualifying examinations and Lateral Entry Test (LET).
                    3.       In cases where the candidates claim any sort of reservation or special consideration, documents to prove such claims.
                    4.       All copies of certificates should be attested by Gazetted Officer/ Head of the Institution where the student has studied.

        Application which is not accompanied by documents in proof of claims of Reservation will not be considered in such categories. Requests for Documents/ Certificates furnished after submission of the application will not be entertained under any circumstance. Late and incomplete applications will be rejected.

Method of Selection

Admission and Allotment of Seats will be strictly on the basis of Common Merit List and counselling:-

Originals to prove the eligibility should be produced at the time of admission. Certificates submitted at the time of admission will not be returned to candidate before completing the course. Sufficient number of photo copies should be taken and kept with students.

Fee Regulations

• Fee in lump sum is to be paid in the month of June every year. Failing which leads to Fine, Prohibition to attend Classes and Loss of attendance. 
• Tuition fee per year will be realized as per the direction of the Admission Supervisory Committee of the Govt. of  Kerala.

Non-payment of fee in time will attract fine, loss of attendance and / or refusal of permission to attend classes.Fee will be accepted  by way of DD only.DD is to be drawn on any bank favoring the Principal MEA Engineering College and payable at Perinthalmanna/ Malappuram. Fee will be also received in cash by bank official on notified  dates in the college office.

Cancellation of Admission

• Students seeking admission in this college under merit quota through the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations are governed by the rules as prescribed in the prospectus of the Commissioner for  Entrance Examinations.
• Students seeking admission under Management quota should accept the admission as their last choice and they will not be allowed to discontinue the course under any circumstance.
• If any information or document furnished along with the application by a candidate is found false or ineligible at a later stage, his/her admission will be cancelled.

• Memo (Sent from the college)
• SSLC / 10 standard certificate.
• Diploma Certificate / Equivalent certificate.
• Transfer certificate and conduct certificate from the institution last attended.
• Physical fitness certificate.
• Admit card & Data sheet of LET
  
• Allotment MEMO (Only for Government Quota)
  
• Passport size photograph (4 copies.)
• Community and Income Certificate (If Applicable)
• Equivalency Certificate or Migration Certificate (Other State Board)
