Direct Admission to the College in banglore

Direct Admission to the College

An honor for the College’s top incoming freshmen Each year outstanding incoming freshmen are offered direct admission to the College of Arts and Sciences. If you’re offered direct admission, you can: Declare a major in the College and begin your studies in the College at the start of your freshman year (all other students begin their studies in University Division, or UD) Declare a second major or a minor in your first semester Work with an advisor in your major right away, rather than beginning with a UD advisor Tap into other resources and support in your academic department from the very beginning of your studies scientific & seasoned Anna Marie Farlow “Being a direct admit has allowed me to be engrained in the biology department since I set foot on campus,” says Anna Marie Farlow. Her professors and advisors have helped shape her education and refine her aspirations, and her courses prepared her for an internship studying algae and water treatment for the city of Bloomington. She’s also earned a prestigious internship with Eli Lilly. After graduation, she plans to become a dentist or begin a career solving challenging health problems. “The College has given me so many opportunities to apply to the future,” she says. You will be offered direct admission to the College if: You’ve been admitted to IU Bloomington, and you indicated a major in the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Global and International Studies, The Media School, or the School of Art, Architecture + Design on your application for admission You earned an ACT composite score of at least 28 or an SAT score of at least 1320 (math and critical reading sections) You earned a cumulative high school GPA of at least 3.7 on a 4.0 scale If you meet these criteria, we’ll tell you that you qualify for direct admission about six weeks after you’re admitted to IU. If you have taken both the old and new SAT, the College Board provides an online tool called the SAT Score Converter to help you see how your scores from the old and new tests compare to each other. Two important notes Direct admission to the College also counts as direct admission to the College’s schools:

Admission to the College in banglore

the School of Global and International Studies, The Media School, and—starting with students beginning at IU in fall 2017—the School of Art, Architecture and Design. The Individualized Major Program, B.F.A. in dance, B.F.A. in musical theatre, and B.F.A. in fine arts with a focus on studio art are preferred admission programs. They require additional steps before you are accepted into the major. Petitioning students should fall only slightly short of the criteria for either ACT/SAT scores or GPA, and should exceed the criteria for the other. Be prepared to provide supporting materials to make your case. To start your petition, write to collinfo@indiana.edu by February 15.
